It was on local craigslist for a few weeks, and so with a little negotiation, it is now mine.
I wasn’t in the market for a 2nd bike, but I love my current G650 so much, I got a good deal, and it was my birthday. So I couldn’t resist the chance to own an older sibling. The deal was made sweeter by 2 expandable hard panniers, tank bag, engine guard, handlebar risers, aftermarket windshield, and a few other extras.
Seller was kind enough to keep and include original windshield, which is well since the combo of handlebar risers and swept back design meant the handlebars hit it before hitting full turn. The chain likely needs to be replaced but i’m starting with a thorough degrease and clean to see.
I haven’t been out for a long ride yet but during my test run it felt like low-speed turns were a little aggressive, almost abrupt. Specs say rake/trail is (or should be) almost identical to my G650GS, so I’m surprised the steering experience is so different,, seems odd. I didn’t notice any issues though while cruising or turning at speed.
Also the color doesn’t thrill me, but if that’s the worse thing, easily fixed.
